Cranberry Rx from RxVitamins provides 250 mg of a North American grown, high-potency cranberry juice concentrate that has been standardized to contain a minimum of 3% oligomeric proanthocyanidin content (OPC) and a minumum of 6% quinic acid. The antioxidant ORAC value of this cranberry concentrate remains quite high due to the gentle processing of the fresh berry. High ORAC values indicate a higher potency of antioxidant function. Cranberry Rx is GMO-free and is manufactured without the use of solvents, preservatives, sugars, flavorings or color. Recent published studies have shown that cranberry juice concentrate compares favorably to the standard antibiotics that are used in the treatment of urinary tract infections (UTI) in the human animal.

Due to the high antioxidant potency of this formulation, it can be used on a daily basis as a plant-based antioxidant, even after its need with the urinary tract has resolved. The bright red color in this seasonal berry is due to proanthocyanadins, special antioxidants found only in cranberry. It has been found that these compounds interfere with the ability of bacteria to attach to the mucosal surface of the bladder, periodontia, intestinal mucosa and stomach, thus suggesting that the concurrent use of cranberry with conventional therapies for infection of these mucus membranes may have a synergistic effect. Studies have also found an anti-cancer effect and an anti-viral effect for this tasty berry.

Capsules can be opened and mixed with a small amount of tasty food to facilitate administration, or can be given intact. If your pet has a UTI, its recommended to continue with the Cranberry Rx for a month following the cessation of antibiotic therapy.
